**Title:** “Daniel Ricciardo Apologizes for Hulkenberg Clash at Italian GP; Tsunoda Frustrated After Haas Collision Ends Race Early
Daniel Ricciardo comments on collision with Nico Hulkenberg: "I believed there was enough room; I said sorry"
Daniel Ricciardo addresses the incident involving Haas at the Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he offered an apology to Nico Hulkenberg after they collided on the first lap of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo found himself in a tussle with Nico Hulkenberg in the midfield during the first lap of the Monza race on Sunday, leading to a collision between the two at Turn 8.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed he had enough room but then experienced contact. This incident resulted in Hulkenberg's Haas being pushed onto the dirt, allowing his teammate Kevin Magnussen to overtake him.
The Australian driver received a five-second penalty for the incident, but was later required to serve a 10-second penalty because one of his mechanics touched the car during the initial penalty at his pitstop.
Ricciardo concluded a challenging race on home soil for the Red Bull team in 13th place.
"At the end of the day, we just didn't have the speed today, penalties aside," he commented.
"We gave it a shot, and I was having fun battling side-by-side at the beginning, but I ended up colliding with Nico at Turn 8."
"After the race, I talked to him and mentioned that I believed there was enough space. However, I felt the contact and realized I hadn't given him sufficient room, so I apologized."
"It's challenging because you put in a lot of effort, yet even the tiniest differences can affect the outcome."
"The vehicle performed adequately afterward, and we exerted maximum effort given our resources. From Friday afternoon until today, I aimed to extract the utmost potential from the car."
“From my perspective, I’m feeling much improved this weekend, and we nearly managed to earn some points.”
Tsunoda Expresses Frustration
The Italian Grand Prix for Red Bull was heavily influenced by Nico Hulkenberg, as stated by team member Laurent Mekies. A crash involving the Haas driver and Yuki Tsunoda led to the termination of the Japanese driver's race.
Yuki Tsunoda expressed his frustration, lamenting that his race was effectively over just a few laps in because of a collision with Nico.
"I attempted to give him plenty of room, but it appears he froze, lost control, and collided with me."
"Regrettably, we had to pull the car out of the race due to damage to the floor."
"I noticed it immediately and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was skidding and I just couldn't control it."
"We're heading to Baku and Singapore next, and our car is expected to perform well on those tracks, so we're optimistic about having successful weekends coming up."
Mekies is frustrated about the Tsunoda incident because it caused him to lose crucial time on the track with the newly updated RB car that was brought to Monza.
"Regarding today's race, it can be stated that Hulkenberg set the pace. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Following that, Nico collided with Yuki, which resulted in us having to retire the car," he explained.
"The most disappointing part of Yuki's retirement is that we missed out on 40 laps that could have helped us learn more about the new updates we implemented here."
"Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty as the initial one was not properly carried out."
"We must reassess our protocols in this situation and gain insights from the error made today. Although such incidents occur, our pit crew's performance has mostly been outstanding this season."
