**Title: Charles Leclerc Cautions Ferrari Fans: Upgrades Not Yet Enough for Consistent Wins Against McLaren**
Charles Leclerc cautions that Ferrari's recent improvements are insufficient for consistent victories for the remainder of the season. He acknowledged making significant progress but remains doubtful about securing race wins in the near future.
Charles Leclerc has cautioned that Ferrari must improve their performance to consistently compete with McLaren for the rest of the 2024 F1 season.
Leclerc secured his second win of the season by utilizing a one-stop strategy, outpacing the McLaren pair of Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Prior to Piastri's second pit stop, Leclerc trailed by five seconds, underscoring McLaren's superior speed at Monza.
Ferrari unveiled a major update for the Italian Grand Prix, aimed at addressing their issues with car bouncing.
During the FIA press conference following the Monza race, Leclerc advised Ferrari to "exercise caution".
"We need to be careful," he stated. "Following Monaco, I believe we've experienced the four toughest races of the season. Monaco suited our car's specifications at that time, and Monza is another track with unique characteristics."
“There were many long straightaways and few turns. We equipped a rear wing designed specifically for this track, which contributed to our victory today. We also introduced another upgrade that, in my opinion, has narrowed the gap between us and McLaren. However, I don't believe this will make us the leading car for the remainder of the season on different tracks.”
“I believe there is still much to be done, but I'm quite pleased to have achieved one here in Italy.”
Even though Leclerc has faced challenges since the Monaco race, he is only 24 points behind Norris in the drivers' standings.
In the constructors' standings, Ferrari trails Red Bull by only 39 points.
However, Leclerc has minimized the high hopes, pointing out that there was similar speculation about a championship run after his victory in Monaco.
“We performed exceptionally well this weekend, but the dynamics in Baku might be completely different, just as they will be in Singapore. We need to recalibrate our approach. We managed to adapt from Monaco to Montreal, and as evidenced, the transition between these two weekends involved significant changes.”
"We experienced some of the most challenging races of the season while trying to figure out the issues with our car. I hope we don't face such tough races again, and I believe we won't."
"However, it's crucial to ensure that both the team and external expectations remain grounded and don't skyrocket from one race to the next, as that wouldn't be realistic."
"Have we made progress? Yes. Is it sufficient to secure victories for the rest of the season? Not quite, but we are moving in the right direction."
