Tesla Unveils Trio of New ‘Amazing’ EVs, Sidelines Roadster in Latest Stockholder Reveal
Tesla has announced the development of three new electric vehicles touted as "amazing", but has seemingly left out plans for the next iteration of the Roadster.
At the 2024 shareholder gathering for the car manufacturer, broadcasted live on YouTube this past Thursday, Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk revealed plans for three "incredible" electric vehicles soon to be released. He presented a visual featuring three concealed cars beside the existing Tesla models, but the Roadster was notably missing.
Upcoming Tesla vehicle concepts revealed during the 2024 shareholder gathering
The launch of the Roadster has been postponed for over four years now, initially set to begin manufacturing in 2020. Musk has repeatedly hinted at the possibility of incorporating rocket technology through a so-called "SpaceX package" that includes real rocket thrusters. Following the unveiling of the Roadster in 2017, Tesla started taking pre-orders, requiring a deposit of $50,000 for the base model and the entire $250,000 cost for the exclusive Founders Series edition.
Musk refrained from elaborating on the upcoming electric vehicles during his talk, but he emphasized the importance of affordability in the industry, stating, "The real game-changer is finding methods to produce more cost-effective cars… affordability is critical." However, there have been claims that Tesla has discontinued one of its budget-friendly electric vehicles. Following speculation in April that Tesla had scrapped its $25,000 Model 2 initiative to focus on autonomous taxis, Musk declared that the unveiling of the Tesla Robotaxi would take place on August 8.

Tesla has been hinting at the concept of a van for quite some time, and it seems one of those products might be derived from the silhouette. The design in the bottom left corner notably resembles the form of a van.
Musk confirmed that he has given the green light for a significant increase in the production of the Tesla Semi. The firm has previously stated that this is contingent on the availability of battery cells, which seems to be in ample supply at the moment.
