Sir Keir Starmer has engaged in official discussions with Joe Biden at the White House following the prime minister's first major global appearance.
The duo was seen seated side by side, sharing a laugh at one stage, while the prime minister emphasized that the "special relationship with the US is crucial and more robust than ever."
Mr. Biden further described the United States and the United Kingdom as "the best of allies" and referred to Britain as "the transatlantic knot" that binds NATO.

In a gesture to strengthen ties between the two nations, Sir Keir presented Mr. Biden with a custom Arsenal jersey featuring his last name and the number 46, signifying his position as the 46th president.
The prime minister, who holds a season ticket for Arsenal, received a team jersey as a "personal gift" from his team at Downing Street during the meeting with the other leader in the Oval Office.
The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is presenting his counterpart with a copy of the Atlantic Charter, the document that led to the creation of NATO, including the modifications made by the then Labour leader, Clement Attlee.
"Prime Minister, do you think football is returning to its homeland
Discussing England's recent victory at Euro 2024, where they defeated the Netherlands to advance to the finals, Mr. Biden inquired of Sir Keir whether football was returning home.
"That appears to be the case," responded the prime minister, prompting the US leader to comment, "It's due to the prime minister."
With a hint of pride, Sir Keir remarked, "Haven't been defeated in any game since the Labour government took over in 2024."
Their meeting at the White House follows Sir Keir's interaction with the US president on Wednesday during the NATO summit in Washington, which celebrates the 75th anniversary of the alliance.
He also engaged in discussions with other global leaders, such as Ukraine's Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
The prime minister, newly appointed just days ago, emphasized during his discussions with Mr. Zelenskyy that the UK's recent governmental shift will not affect the level of support they continue to offer.
Speaking to journalists in Washington D.C., he explained that his discussions with international leaders served as a chance to rejuvenate those alliances, allowing him to emphasize that the nation's global stance on pivotal matters such as defense, security, climate change, and energy remains critically important.
The meeting is anticipated to endorse the stance of US and European authorities, who have labeled Ukraine's trajectory towards NATO membership as "irreversible." However, the alliance is simultaneously devising strategies to safeguard its trajectory against potential disruption should the former US president reclaim office following the November election.
President Biden's campaign for a second term has faced increased scrutiny following a poor showing in a recent debate with Trump, raising questions about his health and age within the Democratic Party.

Sir Keir was also confronted with inquiries regarding the capability of the 81-year-old to lead, especially after he suggested that members of the House of Lords should be mandated to retire at age 80.
The prime minister avoided directly addressing a comment implying that Mr. Biden was too old, emphasizing instead his focus on decreasing the number of seats in the upper house.
