Audi is set to keep operating under the Sauber name for the upcoming season, ahead of their complete transformation into the renowned German brand in 2026, coinciding with the introduction of new F1 regulations.
However, their initiative has genuinely begun, as Haas' Nico Hulkenberg has been enlisted to provide the German company with a German driver for 2025 and the years following.
Sauber has one available seat for the next season, and both of their present drivers, Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, are aiming to secure it.

Audi has taken significant steps by appointing former Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto as their Chief Operating and Chief Technical Officer. Additionally, Jonathan Wheatley is set to depart from Red Bull to assume the role of team principal at Audi.
Bottas acknowledged that Binotto joining the team, which led to Andreas Seidl's departure, will influence his negotiations to remain for the next season.
He acknowledged that this would somewhat restart the discussions.
"It's somewhat complex, but let's take a look."
Valtteri Bottas's choice to share an image of an Audi road car featuring his distinctive racing number has sparked curiosity among fans. They now speculate that Bottas might be selected as Nico Hulkenberg's partner for the 2025 season.
The Audi Formula 1 initiative has faced criticism from multiple sources.
Carlos Sainz, the Ferrari driver, will be moving to Williams next year. Sky Sports’ Craig Slater described this as a “vote of no confidence” in Audi’s future plans.
Former Formula 1 team owner Eddie Jordan has argued that Audi’s decision to establish their operations in Germany instead of the UK is a “fundamental mistake”.
