Sir Keir Starmer is visiting Germany to discuss a new bilateral agreement, aiming to strengthen ties with the EU and shift focus away from Brexit.

On Wednesday, the Prime Minister is scheduled to hold discussions with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz about a new agreement intended to enhance business and trade, strengthen defense and security alliances, and intensify collaborative efforts to tackle illegal migration.

Downing Street anticipates that talks for the agreement, which it has called "a crucial component of the UK's broader rapprochement with Europe," will persist for six months, with both parties aiming to finalize and sign it by early 2025.

Prior to his journey, Sir Keir stated that the UK needs to move past Brexit and repair the damaged ties caused by the former administration.
