During a Monday trip to the North West, Sir Keir Starmer is set to emphasize defence and national security in Labour's campaign message to the electorate.
Sir Keir is set to declare Labour the "party of national security" during his meetings with military veterans and prospective candidates.
He will also reassert the party's dedication to the so-called "nuclear deterrent triple lock", which encompasses a pledge to build four new nuclear submarines in Barrow-in-Furness.
The head of the Labour Party will reiterate his goal to boost military expenditure to 2.5% of the GDP—a benchmark that Rishi Sunak aims to achieve by 2030, contingent on favorable economic circumstances.
In addition to the pledge to construct four new submarines, Labour's "triple lock" guarantee also includes the promise to uphold Britain’s perpetual sea-based defense and to implement all necessary future enhancements for the submarines to continue their patrols.

Labour's decision not to pledge to increase defence spending to 2.5% by 2030 indicates that they pose a risk to our national security. In these unpredictable times, a definitive strategy and decisive measures are essential to navigate towards a secure future, which only the Conservatives are providing.
