**”Sergio Perez Secures Two-Year Extension with Red Bull Amidst Championship Challenges”**
Sergio Perez has signed a two-year contract extension with Red Bull, ensuring he will continue racing for the team until the conclusion of the 2026 season, according to an announcement from the team.
Red Bull has announced that Sergio Perez will remain with the team for the 2025 and 2026 Formula 1 seasons.
Many anticipated that Perez would sign a new agreement, but it was somewhat unexpected to see a two-year contract extension, especially considering the recent doubts about the 34-year-old Mexican's future with Red Bull.
Facing immense pressure to secure his spot for the 2025 season following a lackluster performance in 2023, Perez began the new season on a hopeful note. He managed to secure second place in three of the first four races, trailing behind his teammate Max Verstappen.
Despite experiencing a significant decline in performance during challenging races in Miami, Imola, and Monaco, which has resulted in him dropping to fifth in the championship standings, Red Bull still believes that Perez is the ideal teammate for Verstappen.
Perez expressed his joy in securing his future with the esteemed Oracle Red Bull Racing team, describing it as a unique challenge both on and off the track, despite not having secured a race victory this season.
“I am thrilled to remain here and keep working with everyone to build on this team’s remarkable legacy for another two years. Being a member of this team is a huge challenge, and it’s something I am passionate about.”
"We face a significant challenge this year, but I have complete confidence in our entire team and believe that our future looks promising. I'm thrilled to be a part of this journey. I appreciate everyone's faith in me – it's substantial, and I aim to repay it with outstanding performance both on and off the track."
"We have plenty of tasks ahead and numerous Championships left to secure as a team."
Christian Horner, the principal of the Red Bull team, expressed that it is a crucial moment to finalize their roster for 2025 and they are delighted to keep collaborating with Checo.
"Consistency and reliability are crucial for the team, and both Checo and Max form a strong and effective duo, achieving our first ever one-two finish in the Championship last year."
Sergio Perez, also known as Checo, kicked off the 2024 racing season impressively, securing second-place finishes in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Japan, followed by a podium appearance in China. Although the recent races have been challenging due to the competition becoming more competitive, we remain confident in Checo's abilities and are eager to see him regain his usual high level of performance.
"We experienced an extraordinary season last year, and maintaining our titles will require significant effort. However, we have confidence in our roster and the overall team, which is crucial as this year's Championship is expected to be highly competitive."
