### Ricciardo’s Apology: Behind the Dramatic Hulkenberg Clash at Monza —
Daniel Ricciardo comments on the collision with Nico Hulkenberg: “I believed there was enough room; I said sorry”
Daniel Ricciardo addresses the incident involving Haas during the Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he said sorry to Nico Hulkenberg after they collided on the first lap of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
Red Bull driver Daniel Ricciardo was competing with Nico Hulkenberg in the middle of the field during the first lap of Sunday's race at Monza when they collided at Turn 8.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed there was enough room, but he experienced a collision, which resulted in Hulkenberg's Haas being pushed onto the dirt and losing a position to his teammate, Kevin Magnussen.
The Australian driver received a five-second penalty for the incident. However, he later had to serve an additional 10-second penalty because a mechanic touched his car while he was completing the initial penalty during his pitstop.
Ricciardo finished a difficult race at his home track in 13th place for the Red Bull team.
“We just didn’t have the speed today, penalties aside,” he commented.
"We gave it our best shot, and I was having fun with the close racing initially, but I ended up making contact with Nico at Turn 8."
"After the race, I had a conversation with him. I initially believed there was enough space, but upon feeling the contact, I realized I hadn't given him sufficient room. I then offered my apologies."
"It's challenging because you compete intensely, but even the tiniest differences can be crucial."
"The vehicle performed adequately afterwards, and we exerted maximum effort with the resources available. From Friday afternoon until today, I endeavored to extract the utmost performance from the car."
“I’m feeling much improved this weekend, and we nearly earned some points.”
Tsunoda 'frustrated' after Italian GP
RB's performance at the Italian Grand Prix was heavily influenced by Hulkenberg, stated team member Laurent Mekies. A crash involving Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda led to the Japanese driver being forced out of the race.
"I'm quite annoyed; it's unfortunate that my race ended just a few laps in because of a collision with Nico," Tsunoda remarked.
"I did my best to give him enough room, but it looks like he froze up, lost control, and collided with me."
“Regrettably, we had to pull the car out of the race due to some damage sustained on the floor.
“I noticed it immediately and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was skidding, and I just couldn't manage to drive it.
“Up next, we have races in Baku and Singapore. Our vehicle is expected to do well on these tracks, so we’re optimistic about having successful weekends.”
Mekies is upset about the Tsunoda incident because it caused him to lose crucial time on the track with the newly updated RB car at Monza.
"In today's race, it could be said that Hulkenberg set the pace. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Following this, Nico collided with Yuki, which resulted in us having to retire the car," he explained.
"The most disappointing part about Yuki retiring is that we missed out on 40 laps that could have helped us better grasp the new updates we implemented at this event."
Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty due to an error in carrying out the initial penalty correctly.
"We must re-evaluate our protocols in light of this situation and draw lessons from today's error. Although such incidents occur, our pit crew's performance has been outstanding overall this season."
