### “Ricciardo Reflects on Hulkenberg Clash and Penalties in Chaotic Italian GP
Daniel Ricciardo comments on collision with Nico Hulkenberg: “I believed there was enough room; I said sorry”
Daniel Ricciardo addresses the incident with Haas during the Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he offered an apology to Nico Hulkenberg after the two drivers collided on the first lap of the Formula 1 Italian Grand Prix.
During the first lap of Sunday's race at Monza, RB driver Ricciardo found himself in a tussle with Hulkenberg in the middle of the pack, culminating in a collision at Turn 8.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed he had enough room, but then experienced a collision. Hulkenberg's Haas car was pushed onto the dirt, allowing Kevin Magnussen, his teammate, to pass him.
The Australian driver initially received a five-second penalty for the incident. However, he was later handed a 10-second penalty because one of his mechanics made contact with his car during the pit stop where he was serving the initial penalty.
Ricciardo finished a challenging race at his home track for the Red Bull team, securing 13th place.
"In the end, we didn't have the speed today, even disregarding the penalties," he commented.
"We gave it our best shot, and I was having fun with the close competition at the beginning, but I ended up colliding with Nico at Turn 8."
"After the race, I had a conversation with him. I believed we had sufficient space, but I felt the collision, indicating I hadn't given him enough room. I apologized for that."
"It's challenging because you put in a lot of effort, but even the tiniest differences can have a big impact."
"The car performed well afterward, and we gave it our all with the resources available. I aimed to extract the best performance from the vehicle starting from Friday afternoon until today."
“I’m feeling much improved this weekend, and we nearly managed to earn some points.”
Tsunoda felt 'frustrated'
Laurent Mekies from Red Bull said the Italian Grand Prix was "influenced by Hulkenberg" after a clash between Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda led to the Japanese driver's early exit from the race.
"I'm quite upset; it's unfortunate that my race ended just a few laps after it began because of a collision with Nico," Tsunoda commented.
"I attempted to maintain a significant distance, but it appeared he froze up, lost control, and collided with me."
"Regrettably, we had to pull the car out of the race due to damage sustained to the floor."
"I noticed it instantly and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was skidding, making it impossible for me to control it."
"We're heading to Baku and Singapore next, and our car is expected to do well on those tracks. We're optimistic about having successful weekends coming up."
Mekies is upset about the Tsunoda incident because it caused him to lose important testing time with the newly updated RB car that was brought to Monza.
"Regarding today's race, it can be said that Hulkenberg set the pace. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Subsequently, Nico collided with Yuki, which caused us to retire the car," he commented.
"The most exasperating part of Yuki’s retirement is that we missed out on 40 laps that could have enhanced our knowledge of the new updates we implemented at this event."
"Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty because we didn't properly carry out the initial one."
"We must re-evaluate our processes in light of this situation and take lessons from the error made today. Although such incidents occur, our pit crew's performance has been outstanding overall this season."
