**”Ricciardo Reflects on Hulkenberg Clash and Apologizes After Chaotic Italian Grand Prix”**
Daniel Ricciardo comments on the incident with Nico Hulkenberg: “I believed there was enough room; I said sorry”
Daniel Ricciardo addresses the collision with Haas during the Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1.
Daniel Ricciardo mentioned that he had apologized to Nico Hulkenberg after they collided on the first lap of the Italian Grand Prix in Formula 1.
During the first lap of Sunday’s race at Monza, Red Bull driver Ricciardo and Hulkenberg clashed at Turn 8 while vying for position in the middle of the pack.
Ricciardo mentioned that he believed there was enough room, but he experienced a collision, which caused Hulkenberg's Haas to veer onto the dirt and give up a position to his teammate Kevin Magnussen.
The Australian driver received a five-second penalty for the incident. However, he later had to serve a 10-second penalty because one of his mechanics touched his car while he was serving the initial penalty during his pit stop.
Ricciardo concluded a difficult race at his home track for the Red Bull team by finishing in 13th place.
"In the end, we didn't have the speed today, even without taking the penalties into account," he stated.
"We gave it our best shot, and I was having a great time competing closely at the beginning, but I ended up colliding with Nico at Turn 8."
"After the race, I talked to him and explained that I believed we had enough space. However, I felt the impact, realized I hadn't given him sufficient room, and said sorry."
"It's challenging because you put in a lot of effort, but even the tiniest differences can have a big impact."
"The car performed adequately afterward, and we gave it our all with the resources available. From Friday afternoon until today, I was striving to extract the best performance from the vehicle."
“I’m feeling much improved this weekend, and we nearly earned some points.”
Tsunoda felt 'frustrated'
RB's performance at the Italian Grand Prix was heavily influenced by Hulkenberg, stated team member Laurent Mekies. A crash involving Haas driver Nico Hulkenberg and Yuki Tsunoda led to the Japanese driver's race coming to an early end.
“I’m quite annoyed; it’s unfortunate that my race ended just a few laps in because of a collision with Nico,” Tsunoda stated.
"I attempted to give him plenty of room, but it looked like he panicked, lost control, and collided with me."
"Regrettably, we had to pull out the car due to some damage sustained on the floor."
"I sensed it immediately and attempted to keep going, but the vehicle was skidding, and I just couldn't manage to drive it."
"Up next are Baku and Singapore. Our vehicle is expected to do well at these locations, so we're optimistic about having successful weekends."
Mekies was frustrated about the Tsunoda incident because it cost him important track time with the upgraded RB car that was brought to Monza.
"In today's race, Hulkenberg largely set the pace. Daniel received a five-second penalty for pushing him off the track. Following that, Nico collided with Yuki, which resulted in us having to retire the car," he stated.
"The most disappointing part of Yuki's retirement is that we missed out on 40 laps that could have helped us better understand the new updates we implemented here."
"Daniel was given an additional 10-second penalty as we failed to properly implement the initial one."
"We must reassess our processes in light of this situation and draw lessons from the error made today. While such incidents are inevitable, our pit crew's performance has been outstanding overall this season."
