Ricciardo Keeps Eyes on Present Performance Amid Uncertainty Over F1 Future with Red Bull
Daniel Ricciardo is not considering his future in Formula 1, even though he has received encouraging comments from RB. Ricciardo expressed a desire to improve his current performance.
Daniel Ricciardo is not thinking about his future in Formula 1 with Red Bull, instead concentrating on narrowing the performance gap with his teammate Yuki Tsunoda.
Throughout 2024, Tsunoda has mostly outperformed Ricciardo in both qualifying sessions and races.
The Japanese driver holds a 7-1 advantage in qualifying matchups, and a comparable dominance is seen on race day, where Tsunoda leads 6-1.
Even though Ricciardo is facing difficulties, it appears his position for next year is secure.
RB's Chief Executive Officer, Peter Bayer, has expressed his satisfaction with the current drivers, suggesting a preference for keeping Tsunoda and Ricciardo on the team for the 2025 season.
Despite Bayer's satisfaction with Ricciardo, the ex-McLaren driver is eager to enhance his performance, admitting his frustration over the current performance disparity with Tsunoda this season.
Daniel Ricciardo admitted he hasn't spent much time considering his future. He appreciated the positive feedback, acknowledging it as great to hear and expressing that it would be fantastic. However, he emphasized his desire to achieve better and more consistent performance.
"I believe, much like today, we might discover reasons for losing time in certain areas. However, there will likely always be some issues, as this is Formula 1, and perfection is rarely achieved."
"I’m feeling frustrated because of these gaps. Honestly, the team has been fantastic, but I can't help being bothered by this issue."
Ricciardo stays optimistic about his prospects for making a comeback.
The Australian expressed gratitude towards the RB team for their strong support, while also emphasizing that he won't allow himself to become complacent.
"They have shown immense support," Ricciardo stated. "They clearly believe in my abilities, though this year has proven to be more challenging to perform consistently each week."
"My main priority now is to stay focused rather than becoming too complacent or overly enthusiastic about future possibilities."
"I aspire to improve, whether it's related to my car or myself. I mentioned that I felt okay today, but evidently, it wasn't sufficient."
