**Red Bull Braces for “Tricky” Canadian GP: Verstappen Anticipates Bumpy Ride After Monaco Struggles**
Max Verstappen anticipates a challenging Canadian GP, describing it as "bumpy" and "tricky" for Red Bull.
Red Bull might face difficulties again during the Canadian Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen anticipates a challenging weekend for Red Bull at the Canadian Grand Prix.
In the last race in Monaco, Red Bull had difficulty keeping up with the speed of Ferrari and McLaren.
Verstappen placed sixth in Monaco, marking his poorest race result since the 2022 Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
One consistent issue for Red Bull this season has been their struggles on street circuits, especially those that are uneven or demand extensive use of kerbs.
Despite the resurfacing of the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve, navigating kerbs smoothly has consistently been crucial for a car's optimal performance.
"We need to be patient and observe; the new track surface could potentially bring some unexpected outcomes," Verstappen commented.
"However, this weekend might not be our best due to that reason. It should be somewhat better than [Monaco], though."
"Tracks with uneven surfaces or significant kerbs, especially where extensive kerb riding is required, such as street circuits, may pose some challenges. However, we hope to have a better grasp of the situation by that time."
Red Bull has emerged victorious in the previous two Canadian Grand Prix races.
In 2022, Verstappen held off Carlos Sainz to secure the win, and a year later, he withstood Fernando Alonso's challenge.
Team principal Christian Horner thinks that the alteration in the track's surface might lead to unforeseen outcomes.
Horner mentioned that they've had strong performances at this track in the past. He also noted that the entire circuit has been resurfaced, adding a sense of anticipation to see how it affects the race.
"Ferrari and McLaren are fast competitors. We knew it was inevitable that their performance would catch up. This weekend has been challenging, but we remain ahead in both championship standings."
"We aim to learn from this weekend's experiences and use those insights for the upcoming weekend."
"[Canada has] a lot of grip, but with a new track surface, it's uncertain how the handling will change."
