Red Bull 2025 Shake-Up: Helmut Marko Hints at Driver Line-Up Changes Amid Perez Uncertainty
Helmut Marko hints at changes, suggesting that Sergio Perez's status for 2025 is unclear.
"The situation will be reassessed for 2025."
Helmut Marko, an advisor for Red Bull's Formula 1 team, has suggested that there might be driver changes coming in 2025, indicating that the team will be reconsidering their lineup.
On Monday, Red Bull announced to Crash.net that Sergio Perez will stay with the team after the F1 summer break, ending months of rumors about the Mexican driver's future.
A day later, it was confirmed that Yuki Tsunoda and Daniel Ricciardo would continue as the drivers for RB.
It was rumored that Liam Lawson might get a chance to join Red Bull Racing for the latter half of the year after Daniel Ricciardo was promoted to race alongside Max Verstappen.
However, since that did not occur, the current situation continues leading up to the Dutch Grand Prix happening later this month.
In an interview with F1-Insider, Marko discussed the current state of Red Bull’s two racing teams and suggested that there might be some modifications coming next year.
“Perez isn’t going anywhere. Our goal is for him to get back to his previous form. Ricciardo will remain with us as well, so there will be no changes,” said Marko.
"The situation will be reconsidered in 2025."
Red Bull is optimistic that Perez will regain his form later in the year, particularly at tracks where he has historically excelled, such as Singapore and Baku.
Prior to the summer hiatus, Perez showed some indications of improvement.
He showcased remarkable speed during the race at the Hungaroring, outperforming George Russell despite both starting from the rear of the grid.
At Spa, he secured a spot on the front row during challenging weather, but the race turned out to be disappointing as he eventually dropped to seventh place.
Red Bull may believe that Ricciardo, who is expected to replace the current team member, would not have performed any better, leading to their decision.
With McLaren only 42 points behind in the F1 constructors' championship, Perez will need to start earning significant points quickly.
