Ralf Schumacher Slams Alpine as Nephew Mick Learns F1 Seat Rejection via Instagram
Ralf Schumacher Criticizes Alpine After Mick Schumacher Finds Out Bad News on Instagram
Ralf Schumacher Responds to Alpine's Decision to Ignore Mick Schumacher
Ralf Schumacher has expressed disapproval towards Alpine for the way they handled the situation with his nephew.
Mick Schumacher was a contender for the 2025 racing position, but it was announced last week that Jack Doohan had secured the spot instead.
Mick alleged to Sky Germany that he found out about the disheartening news on Instagram, rather than receiving a direct communication from Alpine.
"This is completely unacceptable," remarked his uncle Ralf, who is also a former Formula 1 driver, to Sky.
Mick Schumacher and Doohan each had the opportunity to drive an Alpine F1 car, participating in what was referred to as a 'shootout' to compete for the available 2025 seat.
Doohan, who is presently serving as Alpine's backup driver, was chosen over Schumacher. This decision comes despite Schumacher's efforts to build a connection with the company this year through his participation in the World Endurance Championship.
The disappearance of the Alpine opportunity significantly diminished Mick’s chances of making a comeback to Formula 1.
He hasn't been on the racing circuit for two years following the loss of his position at Haas. His former boss, Guenther Steiner, had criticized him for making too many errors.
Mick, who is now the third driver for Mercedes, was unable to secure the Williams seat that Logan Sargeant recently vacated.
Williams opted to have Franco Colapinto compete in the last nine races of the season instead of Mick.
It seems that Mick's sole chance to get back into Formula 1 in 2025 is with the Sauber team.
In 2026, this team will transform into Audi and has recruited Nico Hulkenberg to establish a solid German representation.
Mick's last name carries significant weight, especially in Germany where Audi's headquarters are located, which could make him an attractive option for the manufacturer.
Mick mentioned to Sky Germany last week at Zandvoort that he has had discussions with Formula 1 teams, but nothing further has come of them.
He mentioned that it's necessary to be patient and allow everyone some time to thoroughly assess the circumstances before deciding on the best drivers.
They understand my capabilities and what they can expect from me. We'll find out soon.
"You've witnessed my abilities. The internal teams are aware of my capabilities as well, having seen my performance in the junior categories over the years."
