President Xi Jinping Prioritizes Cultural Heritage and Ecological Conservation in Gansu Visit
During a four-day visit to Gansu province, Chinese President Xi Jinping highlighted the importance of cultural preservation and ecological conservation, in addition to advocating for more profound reforms.
During his recent four-day visit to Gansu province, from Tuesday through Friday, Xi emphasized the importance of enhancing the preservation and oversight of the region's natural scenery, including its mountains, forests, agricultural lands, and water resources.
During a visit to Lanzhou, the provincial capital, on Wednesday, Xi encouraged locals to actively participate in safeguarding the Yellow River, emphasizing the importance of preserving the river for the benefit of future generations, state news agency Xinhua reported.
Field visits have traditionally been a tactic employed by Chinese leaders to emphasize their policy agendas. Prior to his presidency in 2013 and once more in 2019, Xi had previously visited Gansu twice to conduct such inspections.
