President Xi Jinping Champions Cultural Preservation and Ecological Sustainability in Gansu Tour
During his four-day visit to Gansu Province, Chinese President Xi Jinping focused on cultural preservation and environmental conservation, stressing the importance of these alongside more profound reforms.
During his visit to Gansu province from Tuesday to Friday, Xi emphasized the need for enhanced preservation and administration of the region's natural scenery, including mountains, forests, agricultural lands, and water resources.
During his visit to Lanzhou, the provincial capital, on Wednesday, Xi encouraged locals to "play their part in collectively safeguarding the Yellow River to ensure it remains a valuable resource for future generations," state news agency Xinhua reported.
Site visits have traditionally been a tactic employed by Chinese officials to underscore their key policy initiatives. Prior to his presidency in 2013 and once more in 2019, Xi had already visited Gansu on two occasions to emphasize this approach.
