In November, everyone kept a close eye on the United States elections and their outcomes. The citizens of America chose President Trump, and it should come as no surprise that his government will focus on its own priorities.
To be honest, citizens across Europe choose their own leaders, and I can assure you that we will make every effort to support European families, farmers, enterprises, and goods. This is our duty, and we are committed to fulfilling it. We believe it is possible to achieve results that benefit everyone involved.
How do we manage this emerging situation? Do we end up opposing one another, entering a cycle of protectionism that harms us all? Or do we adopt a realistic political approach and concentrate on reinforcing the transatlantic partnership in the areas where it is most crucial?
I believe we should focus on building a robust partnership in defense, trade, and international matters, rather than highlighting our differences. This requires proactive actions instead of mere reactions. Trade conflicts, involving increased tariffs and retaliations, are disadvantageous to everyone. Thus, we must be ready for any possible situation. Ideally, this approach will demonstrate to the US that prioritizing America doesn’t mean isolating it from the rest of the world.
What I am trying to convey is that Europe should adopt a strategy based on equality, which requires taking more significant actions.
Regarding security, it involves enhancing our commitment to NATO duties and going beyond that. This entails increasing defense budgets and constructing a Europe that is not only more secure but also more robust, prepared to tackle current challenges and equipped to handle future unpredictabilities.
This involves creating a security structure that works alongside NATO by aiding our defense sector, cutting down on redundancies, and improving the ability to work together seamlessly. Therefore, backing Ukraine and supporting a free and democratic Belarus goes beyond selflessness; it's fundamentally about safeguarding our security, the security of Europe, and the overall global security system. Poland has a particularly keen understanding of this perspective.
From the regions of Georgia, Crimea, and Belarus, you have consistently cautioned us about Russia's maneuvers for many years. Even when it seemed your warnings fell on deaf ears, you remained resolute. From the onset of Russia's unlawful invasion of Ukraine, Poland has taken charge and remains at the forefront of defense and security efforts. Poland recognizes that Europe's preparedness must be commensurate with the magnitude of the threat, which is indeed significant.
Regarding trade: the moment has come to aim higher. Our power is rooted in open and equitable commerce, adhering to global standards rather than isolating ourselves. This implies that we must actively engage, assess our standings, and avoid postponing action for years while others swiftly move forward, potentially shutting out opportunities for our businesses.
It is essential for us to secure the necessary raw materials that are crucial for the growth of our economy. Should Europe fail to take action, it will not be unexpected if our rivals fill the gap.
Although trade can create opportunities, we must ensure it doesn't inadvertently limit access for those who uphold our communities. The worries of our farmers and producers—such as increasing expenses, market challenges, and quality expectations—must be addressed. It's crucial to shield the most vulnerable sectors while supporting industries focused on exports. Recent equitable approaches demonstrate that this balance is achievable. I'm confident we can achieve it once more.
Regarding business operations in Europe, we can take pride, justifiably, in our model of open markets combined with social safety nets. This distinct approach defines the European method and proves effective. However, it's important to acknowledge areas where significant enhancements are required.
My aim for the 10th European Parliament Legislature, which has just commenced, is to establish a legacy focused on simplicity, execution, and practicality. This involves reducing excessive regulations and needless bureaucracy that drive individuals and employment opportunities elsewhere.
Intelligent regulation doesn't necessarily involve increasing the number of rules. Instead, it focuses on developing effective, straightforward policies that can be easily executed and produce tangible outcomes.
The truth is that we have not successfully unified our beneficial single market across numerous sectors. Due to political disagreements, we still fall short in areas such as telecommunications, banking, capital markets, and many others.
The issue of energy expenses is a key challenge we need to address. In the European Union, electricity prices can be as much as triple the rates found in other areas, harming competitiveness, reducing profit margins, and increasing production expenses. As a result, European consumers have less disposable income. Moreover, forecasts suggest that this winter could be significantly colder than those in recent years, adding urgency to resolving this problem.
In discussions about energy, it's crucial to focus not only on advancement but also on unification. We take pride in Jerzy Buzek, a former Polish President of the European Parliament, who frequently advocated for the integration of the energy market. Energy stands out as a sector where collective efforts yield significant benefits. This has been evident in the realm of gas storage and in the recent EU electricity market reform passed by the European Parliament this year.
A completely integrated energy market across Europe would reduce expenses even more and stabilize energy prices. This system offers advantages for everyone involved, not only in terms of economics but also from a security standpoint. This is the essence of genuine strategic independence.

You have successfully accessed essential European funds to aid Polish enterprises and citizens, directed our assistance towards Ukraine, and led critical conversations on security, defense, and other vital issues. Through these efforts, you have positioned Poland at the core of Europe, its rightful place.
Starting on January 1st, Poland will assume the rotating Presidency of the Council of the European Union. This transition is seen as a pivotal moment influencing Europe's future direction. The importance of Europe in shaping European leadership is undeniable. The phrase "A Strong Poland" transcends being a mere slogan; it embodies the reality that a robust Poland contributes significantly to a robust Europe.

He intends to implement tariffs as a means of "external revenue generation," aiming to reduce the US deficit while also making imports more expensive compared to domestic goods, according to the strategy.

The resolution emphasizes that the only way to address the current crisis in Georgia is to hold new parliamentary elections under improved electoral conditions. Lawmakers believe these elections should occur in the coming months, overseen by an independent and impartial electoral commission and closely monitored by international observers. The parliament expresses deep regret that the ruling party, Georgian Dream, has abandoned its path toward European integration and NATO membership. It reaffirms its steadfast support for the legitimate European aspirations of the Georgian people.
