Oliver Bearman eager to gain insights from Hamilton’s “winning mentality” as he joins the Ferrari F1 team
“It’s fantastic that he can somehow impart his knowledge to me”
Upcoming Haas Formula 1 racer Oliver Bearman believes that Lewis Hamilton will instill a "victorious mindset" at Ferrari in 2025, which he is eager to observe and absorb.
In a significant development ahead of the F1 season, seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton has exercised an option to exit his existing Mercedes contract and has agreed to a multi-year agreement to race for Ferrari alongside Charles Leclerc starting in 2025.
Bearman, who replaced an injured Carlos Sainz and made his Formula 1 debut with Ferrari in Saudi Arabia, finishing in seventh place, will join Haas as a full-time driver next year.
With the support of Ferrari’s junior driver program, Bearman is excited about Hamilton joining the Italian team and views it as a significant chance to learn.
Bearman mentioned to Sky Sports F1 that he believes the individual will contribute significant experience to the team.
“He’s achieved the remarkable feat of securing seven world championships, a rare accomplishment few can claim.”
"He’ll contribute a positive and victorious mindset to the team, and his exceptional talent is indisputable. He is truly among the greatest in the field."
"It's wonderful that he can, in a small way, share his experience with me."
"I am optimistic that both the team and I will gain significant insights from him, as I believe he will be a valuable addition to Ferrari."
Bearman expressed his gratitude for Ferrari's confidence in his abilities, acknowledging their support since 2021 and their decision to have him take Sainz's place in Jeddah.
He stated that Ferrari is undeniably one of the most legendary names globally, especially in the realms of racing and Formula 1.
"When you sketch a car, it's red. This brand is closely associated with racing, triumph, achievement, and outstanding drivers."
"To begin with, making my debut with Ferrari is something that hasn't occurred in quite some time."
"Being the youngest person to ever drive for Ferrari was a particularly meaningful achievement for me."
"Naturally, my aspiration is to secure world championship titles, and achieving that with Ferrari would be a dream come true for me."
"They've had my back since 2021, noticing my potential from the start. They chose to believe in me, and even giving me the chance to drive in Jeddah was a significant gamble for Ferrari."
"This indicates their confidence in my abilities and their trust in me. Naturally, I hope to win a championship someday, especially with Ferrari."
Bearman is presently competing in Formula 2 as he prepares for his upcoming full-time debut in Formula 1 next year.
Following an impressive first season with Prema, the British driver has found it challenging to match that performance in 2024. He has secured only one victory and accumulated 34 points, placing him in 15th position.
