Norris Leads Singapore GP Practice as Russell Crashes Late; McLaren and Ferrari Dominate
Lando Norris led the timesheets in the second practice session for the Singapore Grand Prix, while George Russell had a late incident with the wall.
Lando Norris recorded the fastest time during the second practice session for the Singapore Grand Prix, whereas George Russell made contact with the barriers towards the end.
Norris led the standings with a time of 1 minute and 30.727 seconds, narrowly edging out Charles Leclerc by under a tenth of a second.
Similar to the events in Azerbaijan last weekend, the main competition at the front seems to be between McLaren and Ferrari.
Russell experienced a dramatic moment towards the end when he hit the barrier at Turn 8.
The harm to Russell’s Mercedes was minor since he managed to back out of the barrier and head back to the pit lane, though he was missing a front wing.
Carlos Sainz secured the third spot overall in the second Ferrari, trailing the leading pair by 0.5 seconds.
Yuki Tsunoda maintained VCARB’s strong performance at the beginning of the weekend by securing the fourth-fastest time, whereas Oscar Piastri faced ongoing difficulties in comparison to Norris.
Piastri was 0.6 seconds slower, finishing in fifth place, narrowly edging out fellow Australian Daniel Ricciardo.
Russell secured the seventh position, while Sergio Perez was the top performer for Red Bull.
Alex Albon and Nico Hulkenberg finished in the top 10 positions in Singapore.
Lewis Hamilton struggled to keep up with the competition in his Mercedes, and Max Verstappen faced similar issues as Red Bull also lagged behind significantly.
The Dutch competitor ranked 15th in speed, trailing his championship opponent by 1.2 seconds.
