A previous high-ranking Labour MP has urged his successor to fully disclose his interactions with a prominent supporter who is currently charged with terrorism offenses.

Leicestershire Police announced that Majid Novsarka, also known as Majid Freeman, has been charged with encouraging terrorism and backing a banned group. He is scheduled to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court later in the month.

Novsarka, hailing from Leicester, strongly supported Shockat Adam in his successful campaign to win the Leicester South seat in the recent general election. Adam defeated the incumbent Labour representative, Jonathan Ashworth, who was serving as the shadow paymaster general, by a margin of 979 votes.
