Mitsubishi Charges Ahead: Unveils ‘Momentum 2030’ Plan with Nine Electrified Vehicles for U.S. Market by 2028
Mitsubishi aims to refresh its American vehicle offerings by introducing a range of new hybrid models, plug-in hybrid options, and electric vehicles in the coming years.
On Thursday, the car manufacturer revealed its latest strategy, dubbed "Momentum 2030," outlining their ambition to launch either a brand-new or updated vehicle annually from 2026 through to 2030. This will expand their American range to almost twice its present size, which consists of four different models, as stated in a press release by Mitsubishi. A teaser visual accompanying the announcement displayed a lineup of seven vehicles.

Mitsubishi has announced that their latest range will feature two different models that mark the brand's entry into previously uncharted market categories. The vehicles will be powered by a diverse selection of engines, encompassing cutting-edge traditional combustion engines, hybrid systems, plug-in hybrid configurations, and fully electric powertrains.
It seems that North America has finally unveiled its answer to Mitsubishi's international strategy unveiled in March 2023. This strategy detailed an enhanced range of "xEV" vehicles, including hybrids, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric vehicles, aiming to electrify half of its offerings by the end of the decade.

Sources indicate that Mitsubishi and its parent company Nissan are considering a joint venture to produce an electrified pickup truck, which could come in both plug-in hybrid and all-electric versions (this possibility was also hinted at in the worldwide product strategy unveiled last March). It is also anticipated that Nissan and Mitsubishi will utilize common upgraded platforms for various compact car models.
Mitsubishi once offered the compact i-MiEV electric vehicle in the American market, but currently, its sole electrified option is the Outlander PHEV. This vehicle highlights the company's excellence with a hybrid setup that outperforms numerous competitors. The latest iteration of the Outlander PHEV, introduced for the 2023 lineup, impresses with an EPA-estimated electric range of 38 miles.
