**”Mercedes Gears Up for Spanish GP with Key Upgrades: New Floor Aims to Extend Performance Gains”**
Mercedes prepares additional F1 enhancements with a new floor design debuting at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Further improvements are scheduled for Mercedes at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Mercedes plans to unveil an improved floor design at the F1 Spanish Grand Prix next week.
The team from Brackley had their best weekend of the year to date at the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.
George Russell secured Mercedes' first pole position since last year's Hungarian Grand Prix, after an extremely close qualifying session with Max Verstappen.
Although Russell couldn't turn his pole position into a victory, he still managed to achieve Mercedes' first podium finish of the season and likely had the quickest car when the track was dry.
If it weren't for several errors, Russell probably would have competed with Verstappen in the final laps.
Mercedes has been enhancing the W15 with new components, and a recently added front wing, first seen in Monaco, is being praised for their recent resurgence.
Wolff stated that ever since the Imola race, they have made significant progress and installed components on the car that are effective, which was an issue they faced in the previous years.
"It looks like we are improving our performance each weekend, and we have some new components that will be introduced in Barcelona, which should be beneficial. Therefore, I am optimistic that we can maintain this upward trend."
Though the front wing has garnered significant attention, Wolff emphasized the ongoing efforts on parts of the car that aren't immediately visible.
"Occasionally, when you introduce a noticeable component such as bodywork or a front wing, it often becomes the main topic of discussion regarding changes in performance," Wolff commented.
"However, the reality is that in the past three races, we've introduced numerous new components, both noticeable and subtle, which have collectively added fractions of a second to our performance."
"I believe this is an example of small improvements leading to significant benefits. The factory's enormous effort has really set things in motion."
