McLaren Under Fire: Top Management Fumes Over Costly F1 Blunders Amid Growing Internal Pressure
McLaren’s leadership is extremely upset following a series of mistakes in Formula 1 | "Internal pressure mounting"
"I've been informed that there's significant internal pressure to resolve these issues."
Nico Rosberg, the 2016 Formula 1 world champion, thinks that McLaren's upper management is increasingly pressuring the team to make the most of their strong performance, especially after losing out on a win at the British Grand Prix.
McLaren's choice to equip Lando Norris with soft tires in the final moments of the British Grand Prix allowed Lewis Hamilton to secure his initial victory of 2021.
This became evident when Oscar Piastri switched to medium tires, achieving the fastest lap times of all the drivers in the final stages.
Despite demonstrating impressive speed on numerous weekends, McLaren has only secured a single victory.
They might have secured a victory in Canada if they had anticipated the Safety Car, whereas a mix of mistakes by the driver and the strategy led to their loss in Barcelona.
During Sky's coverage of the Hungarian Grand Prix, Rosberg mentioned hearing rumors that McLaren's leadership, headquartered in Bahrain, is becoming increasingly impatient with the team's failure to secure victories.
Rosberg mentioned that this shift means you're now competing for race victories every weekend.
"The game has changed. Minor flaws are now more noticeable. I've been told that there is internal pressure to fix these issues."
Sources indicate that the Middle Eastern executives are reportedly very angry due to recent losses that could have been victories. The team is generally in a strong position. Additionally, Andrea Stella is performing exceptionally well.
Even with their mistakes in operations, Rosberg complimented McLaren on their advancements over the past year.
"It's been amazing once more," he mentioned. "Since late last year, the speed at which that team has been advancing is incredible. The way they are surpassing all other teams in development is truly remarkable."
"Lando's driving performance remains top-notch. I've consistently maintained that he has the potential to be a future world champion. This year, he's in contention for the world championship, albeit with slim odds."
