Mark Webber Highlights Adrian Newey’s Three Key Traits as He Prepares to Boost Aston Martin

Mark Webber has identified three key qualities that Adrian Newey will leverage to enhance Aston Martin's performance.
Webber raced for Red Bull while Newey was there, but Newey's time with the team will conclude early next year.
The departing automotive design expert is set to move to Aston Martin, where he has already been announced as a shareholder and Managing Technical Partner.
Webber characterized Newey for Aston Martin's team leader Mike Krack on Channel 4 as a modest individual, noting that his collection of awards dates back to the 1990s with Leighton House.
"He achieved great success with that project. Staying under budget, he created a highly effective car that shook up the industry. Following that, Williams…"
"He possesses a greater number of trophies than Pep Guardiola!"
"Newey can significantly influence things in this paddock…"
"The humility, the dedication to hard work, the ability to make firm decisions."
Webber inquired of Krack: "Are you excited about the team of people we are assembling to help get this project moving for you?"
Krack replied, "Definitely. We are continuing to develop as a team."
"Just a week ago, we began using a second and third building. However, both the wind tunnel and the simulator are still not operational."
"It’s a promising combination so far. We need to stay modest and progress gradually."
"It’s taking too long! We want to receive it as quickly as possible."
"Lawrence has arranged everything necessary to develop into a leading team. It's a gradual process, and this step is clearly a significant one."
Krack was questioned about whether Newey's focus would be entirely on the 2026 Aston Martin F1 vehicle upon his arrival next year.
Krack stated that the 2025 car would already be released before his arrival.
"We will be launching shortly before that."
"We can definitely gather insights from our current vehicle. Our main attention, however, should be on 2026 and beyond."
"It would be unwise for us not to seek all the knowledge we can from Adrian."
Webber inquired of Krack regarding the team's future aspirations: "Does that include Max Verstappen?"
Krack, likely for good reason, avoided directly addressing the question but gave a subtle clue.
He remarked, "Once a puzzle is completed, you have to remove a piece to add a new one!"
"We will continue to expand. In terms of quality and our approach to everything."
"We need to let this motivate young engineers to become part of our team."
"We need to improve our performance to compete with the leading teams, who currently play at a higher standard."
“There’s much to absorb. The organization must stay flexible as individuals come and go, continually striving to improve daily.”
