Max Verstappen is back in action at Zandvoort for his home event, the F1 Dutch Grand Prix.
The Red Bull racer has not secured a victory in the last four Grand Prix races, which is atypical for him.
To maintain a safe distance from McLaren's Lando Norris, Verstappen aims to regain his dominant performance in the Netherlands – a track where he has remained undefeated since its reintroduction to the F1 schedule in 2021.
Piastri registers the initial time with a 1:24.176 in his McLaren.
The drivers from both Haas and Sauber teams have taken to the Zandvoort circuit, equipped with full wet tires, for initial exploratory laps in the rainy conditions.

During Friday's practice sessions at Zandvoort, McLaren and Mercedes alternated in leading the timesheets. George Russell finished the day with the quickest lap, narrowly edging out Oscar Piastri by 0.061 seconds, with Lewis Hamilton securing the third spot.
Max Verstappen secured the fifth position, trailing by 0.284 seconds. The current world championship frontrunner, who hasn't clinched a victory since the Spanish Grand Prix in June, conceded that Red Bull's performance was lacking in both short and long runs, leaving him puzzled and seeking explanations.
Max Verstappen has been undefeated at the Zandvoort circuit since its reintroduction to the Formula 1 schedule in 2021. However, as he aims for his fourth consecutive home victory, he seems to be encountering significant challenges.
Did they succeed in reversing their fortunes overnight? Additionally, what effect will the rainy weather have on today's ranking?
Good day!
The last practice session is scheduled for 10:30 AM UK time, with the qualifying rounds starting at 2 PM this afternoon.
It seems that we are in for some quite unpleasant weather, as continuous rain is pouring down at Zandvoort today.
The F1 Academy's qualifying session was recently held under rainy weather.
