Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari Move: Eddie Jordan Predicts ‘Fireworks’ and a Serious Championship Contender
Lewis Hamilton has received support to become a "strong contender" at Ferrari, with "fireworks" anticipated. Next year, Hamilton is expected to regain his top form with the Ferrari team.
Former Formula 1 team principal Eddie Jordan has expressed his support for Lewis Hamilton, believing he will be a "strong competitor" when he moves to Ferrari.
Starting in 2025, Hamilton will team up with Charles Leclerc, concluding his longstanding partnership with Mercedes.
The sporting world was stunned when the seven-time world champion's transfer was revealed just before the upcoming season.
During the most recent episode of the Formula for Success podcast, Jordan discussed his perspective on why he believes Hamilton has lost his "mojo" at Mercedes, suggesting that a change of teams might be necessary.
"He felt his time at Mercedes had run its course and he needed a fresh start," Jordan commented. "It's common for individuals under extreme pressure and stress to seek a change of environment, and I believe that's why Lewis made the move."
"I honestly don’t think it’s about contracts or money. I believe he wants to end his career at Ferrari because it's a special place. He plans to move to Italy, which makes sense to me. He also aims to become fluent in the language, which is crucial because, without that, you won’t truly integrate into the Ferrari community."
"Is he capable of securing a World Championship title down the line? I believe they have a powerful team. Fred Vasseur has left a significant impression on everyone, as he seems to have introduced a remarkable sense of calmness to the team."
During the same podcast, co-host David Coulthard expressed skepticism about Hamilton's ability to match Leclerc, citing the age difference as a significant factor.
"What are your thoughts on how he will get along with Charles Leclerc?" Coulthard asked.
"I've mentioned before that, from my perspective, Charles at 27 is extremely fast and will pose a significant challenge for Lewis, who is approaching 40. I'm not doubting Lewis' exceptional talent, but it's simply the natural progression of one's career."
A source expressed doubt about Lewis's ability to get faster at his age, despite his extensive experience. They acknowledged that this opinion might upset Lewis's fans but added that they would be thrilled to see him challenge age expectations and compete closely with Charles.
Nevertheless, Jordan firmly believes that Hamilton will return to top form, forecasting "fireworks".
Jordan stated his disagreement by expressing his opinion. He explained that he believes the new rules will not be implemented by next year, 2025. As a result, the car being driven will essentially be the same as the current one.
Aged 39, I believe that Lewis Hamilton, once he dons the red Ferrari suit, will experience a resurgence similar to when he transitioned from McLaren to Mercedes. It will be explosive. I am confident that Hamilton will be a formidable challenger for the World Championship and will make a significant effort to secure the title before the 2026 season. The possibilities are endless.
