**Lewis Hamilton’s Dutch GP Dreams Dashed After “Shocking” Qualifying Session**
Lewis Hamilton laments "disappointing" qualifying, claims weekend is "over"
Lewis Hamilton believes his Dutch Grand Prix weekend is essentially "over" after failing to advance past Q2, finishing in 12th place.
Lewis Hamilton expressed that his performance in the Dutch Grand Prix has been essentially finished following a disappointing qualifying session at Zandvoort.
The seven-time world champion was eliminated in the second round and will begin the race from 12th place after an error on his last qualifying lap. Additionally, he may face scrutiny from the officials for possibly obstructing Sergio Perez during Q1, an incident that is currently being reviewed.
Following his qualification session, he informed Sky: "That was quite a surprising session. Such things occur, and I'm at a loss for words. It's over now, but it doesn't sit well with me."
"Things took a turn for the worse as soon as the incident with Perez occurred. I tried my hardest to steer clear and moved as far to the left as I could, but the timing just wasn't right."
"From that point onward, it was like a chain reaction, with things continually deteriorating."
He told the official F1 TV channel, "It's definitely extremely frustrating, of course, but that's the situation."
"That's a bit challenging. The weekend is over, and we need to focus on the upcoming week."
Hamilton disclosed that modifications made to his W15 car overnight following Friday's practice session turned it into a "nightmare" to handle.
“It wasn’t perfect,” he said.
"We modified the car overnight, but we weren't able to observe the effects during the third practice session. This situation is the same for everyone, though. The adjustments we made significantly altered the car, and it turned out to be a disaster today."
"The car was extremely responsive today. Yesterday, we experienced significant understeer, so we made adjustments to counteract that, which resulted in the opposite effect."
When questioned about Hamilton's performance issues, Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff explained to Sky: "In earlier sessions, we consistently ranked in the top three. However, during this instance, our car was extremely precarious."
"It was extremely challenging to manage the lap. There was a lot of understeer and sudden oversteer, and once you exceed the temperature limits, the performance drops completely."
"That's the reason we experienced that bizarre incident where Lewis suddenly dropped out during Q2."
