Lewis Hamilton Salutes Daniel Ricciardo’s F1 Legacy with Touching Tribute and a ‘Gross’ Memory
Lewis Hamilton commends Daniel Ricciardo by recalling a "disgusting" yet amusing anecdote
Lewis Hamilton has reacted to Daniel Ricciardo's departure from F1 via a post on social media.
Lewis Hamilton expressed that competing alongside Daniel Ricciardo was a privilege, following the confirmation of Ricciardo's departure from Formula 1.
On Thursday, RB confirmed that for the last six races of the 2024 F1 season, Ricciardo will be succeeded by Red Bull's backup racer, Liam Lawson.
It seems that the Singapore Grand Prix will mark the last Formula 1 race for the Australian racer, aged 35, who has secured eight wins in 257 Grand Prix races over a 14-year career span.
Seven-time global champion Hamilton was one of Ricciardo's rivals who paid homage to the ex-Red Bull racer.
"Competing alongside you throughout these years has been a privilege," Hamilton shared on Instagram. "I'll always remember our fierce competitions, the moments of joy, and the unique experience of drinking from your shoe. It was unpleasant, but I'm happy to have shared that with you, my friend.
"You've created a lasting impression by consistently staying true to who you are, a feat that's particularly challenging in this sport. Your journey has been marked by your ever-present grin, and for that, you have my utmost respect.
"There's a whole lot more in store for you, and I'm eager to witness your next steps. Always by your side, buddy."

Red Bull's team leader, Christian Horner, referred to Ricciardo as significantly more than merely a driver.
"From the second you joined Red Bull, it was clear you were far more than merely a driver," he penned.
"Your perpetual energy, wit, and outlook will create a lasting impact on the Team in Milton Keynes and Formula 1 at large. We're grateful for the victories, laughter, tunes (and if only I could include the shoeys), you'll forever hold a unique place in the Red Bull Family.
"Eight victories, thirty-two top-three finishes, and a total of 1,329 points. These numbers and honors only scratch the surface of your identity and accomplishments. We're grateful to you, Daniel."
Max Verstappen, who was once Ricciardo's teammate at Red Bull and is considered a close friend, responded to Ricciardo's Instagram post with a message of encouragement, saying: “Don’t let this get you down, buddy! There are still plenty of wonderful times ahead.”
