**Lewis Hamilton Accuses Max Verstappen of “Hostility” After Hungarian GP Clash: A Look into Their Fiery Rivalry**
Lewis Hamilton accuses Max Verstappen of fostering "hostility" following the Hungarian Grand Prix.
“I believe there shouldn't be any animosity. However, it's clear that he will always have some on his end.”
Lewis Hamilton has claimed that Max Verstappen displayed "hostility" after their recent clash at the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix.
During the fight for the last podium position at the Hungaroring, Verstappen briefly went airborne while attempting to pass Hamilton at Turn 1.
Verstappen delayed braking and caused his front wheels to lock up just as Hamilton attempted to navigate the turn.
The racer from the Netherlands believed that Hamilton had changed his position while slowing down, whereas the seven-time world champion dismissed any claims that he was at fault.
Following an investigation conducted after the race, the officials chose not to impose any penalties for the incident.
This isn't the first occasion when the two ex-F1 championship contenders have clashed on the circuit.
During the FIA press conference after the race, Hamilton shed light on the reason there will always be animosity from Verstappen.
In response to questions about the incident, he stated: "From what I recall, we overtook a slower car. As I approached the braking zone, Max suddenly showed up to pass the car behind me, prompting me to shift my position to defend."
"I made sure there was enough space inside, but Max braked hard and took a different path than I did. While I was navigating the corner, he suddenly cut across. To me, it seemed like a typical racing incident."
"It's quite simple to make errors like that. Therefore, I believe there shouldn't be any animosity. However, it's clear that he will always feel hostile."
Hamilton followed up his Silverstone victory with another impressive performance, securing a spot on the podium.
Sunday’s outcomes have allowed him to surpass Sergio Perez and George Russell in the F1 drivers’ standings as they approach this weekend’s Belgian Grand Prix.
It also marked the 200th time he had finished on the podium in his Formula 1
Looking back on the accomplishment, he remarked, "The number itself doesn't matter. What I really think about are these two and how young they are. They were in diapers when I began, so… Truly, it makes me reflect on the entire journey and all the amazing individuals I've had the opportunity to collaborate with."
"When I was 13, McLaren signed me, and I always had a lot of affection for that team throughout our journey together. I won my first World Championship with them, and even though they faced some tough times afterward, it's fantastic to see them doing well again. It makes me very happy."
"Those people are my former team, so I feel incredibly thankful to be here with them. Today’s race was challenging, and I never imagined reaching 200 podium finishes. I think I've competed in about 340 races, right?"
"My performance was decent, but it's really thanks to the fantastic people I've collaborated with on both teams."
