Legendäres Comeback: Der Honda Prelude kehrt nach Europa zurück und feiert Premiere auf dem Goodwood Festival of Speed 2024
The Honda Prelude is making a comeback in Europe
A concept will be unveiled at the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed
Prelude? That rings a bell. First introduced in 1978, the original Honda Prelude served as the foundation for the sports coupe. There were five iterations of the Prelude until it ceased production in 2002, with the final model delivering up to 220 horsepower in Japan and 200 horsepower in Europe. Now, the revival of this iconic name in Europe is becoming more apparent.
In October 2023, Honda unveiled a Prelude Concept in Japan. This concept car is now making its European debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2024. The showcase, set for July 11-14, coincides with the 25th anniversary of Honda's hybrid vehicles and simultaneously confirms the Prelude's reintroduction to the European market.

Honda remains tight-lipped about the details. They vaguely state, "The latest Prelude offers thrilling driving excitement and exceptional efficiency, striking a perfect balance. It embodies Honda's commitment to blending electrification with sophistication and vigor."
Forty-five years ago, the initial Prelude made its debut in the European market, sustaining its presence through five distinct generations until 2001. Honda asserts that the latest version signifies a fitting revival of the iconic brand, delivering an impressive fusion of elegance and sophistication, paired with cutting-edge hybrid technology.
The term Prelude is used to describe an introductory musical piece and is meant to signify the vehicle as a forerunner for upcoming models that embody Honda's commitment to sportiness – it's all about delivering driving pleasure to customers throughout Europe.
Additional offerings from Honda:
"Tomoyuki Yamagami, who serves as the Chief Engineer and Large Project Leader at Honda Motor, elaborates that the latest Prelude is a milestone not only as the freshest addition to our ongoing progress in hybrid technology, but also as a culmination of a quarter-century of pioneering research and development in the hybrid vehicle sector."
The design maintains its athletic essence by seamlessly blending the benefits of efficiency and environmental friendliness of electrified driving with an exhilarating experience behind the wheel. Furthermore, the Prelude indicates that hybrid systems remain a crucial component of Honda's electrification tactics – a pivotal move towards our ambition of exclusively selling battery electric or fuel cell vehicles by 2040," Yamagami elaborates.
