Leclerc’s Unyielding Stance: No Mercy for Hamilton at Ferrari in 2025 Showdown
Charles Leclerc gave a strong opinion about going easy on Lewis Hamilton while racing for Ferrari. He said, "Absolutely not – once I have my helmet on, all thoughts of mercy are gone."
Charles Leclerc has shared his thoughts on his mindset as he prepares to have Lewis Hamilton join him as a teammate next year.
Starting in 2025, Leclerc and Hamilton will team up at Ferrari, creating a star-studded pair of drivers from distinct generations, both eager to claim the F1 championship.
It will challenge Leclerc's resolve and compel Hamilton to prove how much energy he still has.
“It will be amazing to have Lewis as part of the team,” Leclerc shared with The Gentleman’s Journal.
"And, clearly, having such an amazing champion as my teammate, with the same vehicle, is a fantastic opportunity."
"To begin with, this is a fantastic chance to gain knowledge from one of the top experts in the field."
"Moreover, I believe it will be an incredible chance for me to demonstrate my abilities, so I'm eagerly anticipating it."
"Growing up, I spent every weekend at karting tracks, which made it hard to keep up with an entire Formula 1 season. However, I did manage to watch some races, and he was definitely one of the drivers I admired."
"In my first year in Formula 1, I felt both amazed and daunted by the incredible talent of the drivers around me. Lewis, likely the top driver among them, made the experience of competing alongside him particularly surreal."
Leclerc was questioned about whether he would 'go easy on the newcomer' when Hamilton joins Ferrari next season.
“Absolutely not,” he replied.
"Absolutely not – once the helmet is on, all of this stops."
"You evolve, you don't ponder over identities, and you simply take action."
"Currently, my competition includes Lewis, so I need to set aside the familiar faces in the paddock and concentrate solely on how I perform while racing."
In the last few weeks, Hamilton has turned back the clock by securing victories in two of the most recent three grand prix races.
Leclerc reached a significant career achievement this season by finally securing a victory at his home grand prix in Monaco.
The recent advancements in Mercedes' performance create an interesting twist to Hamilton's transition, as his current team is currently outpacing Ferrari.
However, Hamilton utilized an opt-out provision in the contract he inked with Mercedes last year to pave the way for a significant transfer to Ferrari in 2025.
The move brings together the top-performing driver in Formula 1 history with the most victorious team.
Hamilton will continue racing into his 40s with the legendary Italian brand.
