Leclerc Predicts Red Bull Resurgence Post-Canada Amidst Current Struggles
Charles Leclerc anticipates that Red Bull will improve their performance following the Canadian Grand Prix, despite their recent challenges. Leclerc is skeptical that Red Bull's downturn in form will persist.
Charles Leclerc firmly believes that Red Bull will regain their strong performance once Formula 1 resumes at traditional tracks later this month.
In recent races, Red Bull's performance has comparatively declined.
Max Verstappen was overtaken by Lando Norris at the Miami Grand Prix, as the McLaren driver managed to seize the lead thanks to a timely Safety Car intervention.
The narrative at Imola was much the same as Verstappen put on a stellar performance, securing both pole position and the win, ultimately crossing the finish line a mere 0.7 seconds before Norris.
In the most recent race held in Monaco, Leclerc secured the victory while Verstappen ended up in sixth place due to an uncommon mistake during the qualifying round.
Due to the bumpy nature of the Canadian Grand Prix track this weekend and the need for effective kerb riding to maintain speed, Red Bull may be vulnerable to competition again.
Although Leclerc believes this will happen, he expects Red Bull's recent issues to be temporary as Formula 1 moves to Barcelona.
Charles Leclerc remarked that they are on the verge of three consecutive races, starting with the Canadian Grand Prix, where navigating kerbs and bumps plays a crucial role. He noted that while the bumps in Canada are not particularly significant, managing the kerbs is essential. Leclerc anticipates a similar pattern in this race but foresees that from the Barcelona race onward, Red Bull may make significant improvements. He expressed his hope that this would not happen.
When we evaluate the initial phase of our season, we've performed well despite trailing behind Red Bull. We're not too far off, and we haven't lost a significant number of points, which is crucial.
"We must stay concentrated on our own performance and aim to introduce new components swiftly to narrow the gap at circuits that typically favor Red Bull, thereby applying more pressure on them."
After eight races, Leclerc is trailing Verstappen by only 31 points in the drivers' standings.
The champion, who has claimed victory six times, thinks Ferrari might have a chance to secure a win this weekend.
Charles Leclerc stated, "In past seasons, the key issue preventing our victories was the lack of a competitive car." He continued, "In the previous year, our main challenge was during the qualifying sessions. Although our race pace was impressive, our starting positions were not favorable. This year, however, I think we might have a chance."
"As I mentioned earlier, I don't believe this track plays to Red Bull's advantages, which could present a chance for our team."
"We expect to be on par with McLaren and Red Bull. It's crucial for us to optimize every aspect, and if we do, our weekend's outcome will surpass the results from previous years."
