**Leclerc Cautions Ferrari Fans: Upgrades Not Enough to Sustain Race Wins for 2024 Season**
Charles Leclerc cautions that Ferrari’s recent upgrade is insufficient for securing victories through the remainder of the season. He remarked, "While it's a positive move forward, I doubt it will be adequate to consistently win races until the season concludes."
Charles Leclerc has cautioned that Ferrari must enhance their performance to consistently compete with McLaren for the rest of the 2024 F1 season.
Leclerc secured his second win of the season by utilizing a one-stop strategy, overtaking McLaren's Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris.
Prior to Piastri's second pit stop, Leclerc trailed by five seconds, underscoring McLaren's dominance at Monza with the fastest car.
Ferrari unveiled a major update package for the Italian Grand Prix, aimed at resolving their issues with car bouncing.
During the FIA press conference following the Monza race, Leclerc advised Ferrari to "exercise caution."
"We need to be careful," he stated. "Following Monaco, I believe we've experienced the four most challenging races of the season, as Monaco's track suited our car's characteristics at that moment. Monza also presents a unique and distinctive track layout."
"There were many straight sections and few turns on this track. We had a rear wing specifically designed for this circuit, which contributed to our victory today. Additionally, we introduced another upgrade that I believe has brought us closer to McLaren's performance. However, I don't think this will make our car the dominant one for the remainder of the season on different tracks."
"We still have plenty to accomplish, but I'm very pleased to have one here in Italy."
Although Leclerc has faced challenges since the Monaco race, he is only 24 points behind Norris in the drivers' standings.
Likewise, in the constructors' championship, Ferrari trails Red Bull by only 39 points.
However, Leclerc has tempered expectations, pointing to similar championship challenge discussions that arose after his victory in Monaco.
"This weekend, we showed great strength, but Baku might present a completely different challenge, and Singapore will likely be different as well. Therefore, we need to recalibrate. We managed to adjust from Monaco to Montreal, but as evidenced by the significant shift between those two weekends, it was a major transformation."
"We experienced three or four of the most challenging races of the season as we tried to figure out the issues with our car. Hopefully, we won't face such difficult races again, and I don't believe we will."
"However, it's crucial to remember that both the team and external expectations should remain grounded and not skyrocket after just one race, as that wouldn't be realistic."
"Have we made progress? Yes. Is it sufficient to secure race victories for the remainder of the season? Not quite yet, but we've definitely moved in the right direction."
