Lando Norris Calls for Mid-Season ‘Reset’ Following Series of ‘Stupid Mistakes’ and Poor Starts in Recent F1 Races
Lando Norris believes he requires a "reset" due to "foolish errors" and "poor starts" in his latest F1 races.
"I've lost many points in the past three or four races due to silly actions, errors, and bad starts."
Lando Norris has expressed the necessity for a "reset" during Formula 1's summer break after facing challenges at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Norris veered off course by himself during the opening lap of Sunday's race at Spa-Francorchamps.
Due to his recent error, he dropped several places during the first lap, leaving him at a disadvantage.
In the end, Norris was outpaced by his primary F1 championship competitor, Max Verstappen, who began the race from 11th position on the grid due to an engine penalty.
Reflecting on his performance at Spa, Norris remarked to Crash.net in the paddock: “Overtaking was just not feasible. “There were minimal on-track passes; the majority occurred during pit stops.
“There were a few passes, but they only happened if you had a 10-lap fresher set of tires. Other than that, it was pretty difficult to overtake. I felt like we had good speed and the car was performing well.”
This season, Norris has experienced early-race setbacks before Belgium.
Oscar Piastri essentially took the victory in Hungary from him because of his sluggish beginning.
Likewise in Barcelona, he dropped two positions during the first lap.
Norris admits that he simply needs to "recharge" for the latter part of the year.
"I need to start fresh; I've lost many points in the last few races due to errors, poor beginnings, and foolish decisions," he stated.
"On the first turn, I was attempting to avoid any issues and ensure I didn't get hit, but I ended up driving off the track. Just some foolish mistakes."
"I made an error in judgment; I didn't want to be eliminated at the first turn, so I left some space but miscalculated my exit."
"The team is performing exceptionally well and maintaining a great pace. I'm pleased and, in a sense, reluctant to pause because we're in excellent shape. Even on Sunday, our speed was impressive."
"In the past couple of races, I haven't been performing as well as I should. I've lost a significant number of points."
