Red Bull Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner shares that he had conversations with Sergio Perez at his residence.

Christian Horner, the head of the Red Bull team, disclosed that he had a conversation with Sergio Perez at Perez's residence to address concerns about the Mexican driver's recent performance in Formula 1.

Perez has faced a disappointing streak recently, failing to place above seventh in the last six races and only managing to secure a 17th-place finish at the British Grand Prix two weeks ago.

Horner has recently acknowledged that Perez's insufficient points are "unsustainable," fueling rumors that his spot on the team might be in jeopardy, even though he has a new contract.

Sources indicate that should Perez trail teammate Max Verstappen by over 100 points by the summer break, a specific clause related to performance would come into effect, allowing Red Bull to replace him.

Perez trails Verstappen by 137 points with only two races left before the mandatory F1 break in August. Over the past six races, he has managed to earn just 15 points.

When asked if he has discussed Perez's current performance, Horner told Sky Sports: "Yes, we maintain a very transparent relationship."

In my kitchen, I had a conversation with him and asked, "What's happening? Is there anything more to this?" He responded, "No, I'm just overanalyzing things."

"I believe that by not paying attention to what is going on in the other part of the garage, he will benefit, and this is the strategy he is currently adopting. He is concentrating solely on his own performance."

Horner stated that Red Bull chose to initiate an early contract renewal in an effort to provide stability for Perez.

He stated, "We all hope Checo can achieve the same performance he demonstrated in the initial four or five races. We know he has the ability to do so."

"We decided to exercise his option for next year early to help stabilize him. He's been a bit confused in the recent races. Hopefully, today's performance indicates that he's moving past that phase."

"The team is putting in a lot of effort to help him regain his form, which is crucial for us."

Red Bull has expedited the introduction of their most crucial upgrade package of the season, aiming to deploy it at this weekend's Hungarian Grand Prix.

Horner mentioned that the car seems to be performing efficiently, and as a result, the difference between the two drivers is becoming smaller.

"Hopefully, Perez will gain a lot of confidence from that performance. Although the car has been delivering results, it has been somewhat difficult to handle."

"Max has handled it somewhat better than Checo. We hope the adjustments made have put the car in a good position."
