Jorge Martin Vows Comeback After Heartbreaking Crash Costs German MotoGP Lead
Jorge Martin comments on losing the lead in the German MotoGP and his championship advantage after a crash
Following a fall that took him out of the lead in the German MotoGP, Jorge Martin promises: "I will take this as a lesson. I will return to winning ways, and that's final."
Jorge Martin was just two laps short of increasing his lead in the MotoGP World Championship by securing a flawless double win in Germany.
However, calamity struck when he lost control and skidded off the track at Turn 1 during the second-to-last lap, handing the race win and championship lead over to Francesco Bagnaia, while the Pramac Ducati rider was left in despair.
Martin expressed to TNT Sports that he finds it challenging to provide a detailed explanation or analysis at this time.
"We performed exceptionally well today until the accident occurred. It's definitely disappointing. It's unfortunate after having such a great race, but we need to keep looking ahead."
"We need to rise again. I believe today marks a crucial point in my career. This experience will teach me a lot. I will return to victory, and that's all there is to it."
Martin mentioned that they had been having significant difficulties with the front throughout the entire weekend when questioned about any prior indications.
"Turn 1 was one of those spots, but I didn't anticipate an accident. I definitely noticed some activity there, but it didn't seem significant."
"Therefore, we must progress and undoubtedly come to terms with this."
Martin will use the summer break to reflect on his error before heading to Silverstone early next month, where he will start with a 10-point gap behind Bagnaia.
