Jeremy Clarkson Sparks Speculation on Adrian Newey’s F1 Future with Oxfordshire House-Hunting Revelation
Jeremy Clarkson teases Adrian Newey's potential next step with a 'looking for a new home' remark
Did Jeremy Clarkson accidentally reveal an important detail regarding Adrian Newey's future in Formula 1?
At the British Grand Prix, Jeremy Clarkson seemed to give away a clue regarding Adrian Newey's possible future move in Formula 1.
Standing on the track at Silverstone before the British Grand Prix on Sunday, the ex-Top Gear host shared with Viaplay TV that Newey, aged 65, is in the process of purchasing a home in Oxfordshire.
"Are you interested in a scoop? I've learned that Adrian Newey is searching for a home in Oxfordshire, rather than Maranello," Clarkson revealed to the presenter from the Netherlands.
Clarkson, currently a host on Amazon Prime shows The Grand Tour and Clarkson's Farm, was schoolmates with Newey.
Rumors about Newey's career path have grown stronger ever since it was made public in May that he would be stepping down as Red Bull's chief technical officer.
The renowned Formula 1 engineer is rumored to be considering a move to partner with Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari, yet Aston Martin has intensified its campaign to retain Newey's expertise.
Autosport has disclosed that the Silverstone team recently welcomed Newey for a covert tour of their facilities.
Newey has kept quiet regarding his future plans, though he has acknowledged that he "will need to have decided" by the winter.
In a conversation with Sky Sports, when questioned about his future plans, Newey responded, "I'm not sure. Currently, I'm primarily focused on developing the RB17, our race vehicle, and also planning to take a break for a while.
"Recently, we spent an entire week, fortunately coinciding with good weather, exploring the south coast. We brought our dogs along for the adventure in a classic Aston Martin DB6, which was truly enjoyable."
Newey has reduced his daily responsibilities at Red Bull but remains involved in the development of the RB17 hypercar project.
