Jeremy Clarkson Sparks Speculation on Adrian Newey’s F1 Future with Oxfordshire House-Hunting Revelation
Jeremy Clarkson teases a potential update on Adrian Newey's career with a 'looking for a new home' assertion
Did Jeremy Clarkson inadvertently reveal an important detail regarding Adrian Newey's future in Formula One?
At the British Grand Prix, it seemed that Jeremy Clarkson gave a subtle indication regarding what might be Adrian Newey's upcoming move in his Formula 1 career.
Standing on the Silverstone track before the British Grand Prix on Sunday, the ex-Top Gear host shared with Viaplay TV that Newey, aged 65, is in the process of purchasing a home in Oxfordshire.
"Are you looking for a scoop? Clarkson revealed to the Dutch host that Adrian Newey is actually searching for a residence in Oxfordshire, rather than Maranello."
Clarkson, currently hosting The Grand Tour and Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime, was schoolmates with Newey.
Rumors regarding Newey's next steps have only escalated following the announcement of his exit as Red Bull's chief technical officer in May.
The iconic Formula 1 engineer is rumored to be considering a move to Ferrari, alongside Lewis Hamilton, but Aston Martin has intensified its campaign to retain Newey's expertise.
According to Autosport, the team based in Silverstone recently had Newey over for a clandestine tour of their facilities.
Newey has kept quiet regarding his future plans, but he has acknowledged that he must make a decision by the winter.
In a conversation with Sky Sports, when queried about his future plans, Newey responded, "I'm uncertain. Currently, I'm focusing on developing the RB17, our racing vehicle, while also enjoying a bit of a break."
"Recently, over a period of seven days, we had the fortunate opportunity to travel along the south coast accompanied by our dogs in a classic Aston Martin DB6. The weather was perfect for our journey, making the entire experience truly enjoyable."
Although Newey has reduced his everyday responsibilities at Red Bull, he remains involved in the development of the RB17 hypercar project.
