Jeep Electrifies the Roads: The $25,000 Renegade EV Set to Arrive by 2027
In a recent discussion, Stellantis' chief executive, Carlos Tavares, revealed plans for an affordable electric vehicle from Jeep, priced at $25,000 for the American market. This upcoming EV will carry forward the legacy of the Renegade, a compact crossover that ran on gasoline and concluded its production with the 2023 model.
Initially noticed by MoparInsiders, the Renegade label was verified during Stellantis' Investor Day 2024 event earlier this week, held at the previous Chrysler Technical Center located in Auburn Hills, Michigan.
The briefing primarily concentrated on the firm's technological advancements such as the STLA Brain, STLA SmartCockpit, and STLA AutoDrive. Nonetheless, it also touched upon Jeep and its future strategies for the North American market. The presentation included visuals of an upcoming Renegade slated for release in the 2027 model year, with a starting price below $25,000 for the battery electric vehicle version, suggesting that there will also be a comeback of the gasoline-powered model.

The anticipated electric version of the Renegade will likely maintain its compact B-segment crossover size, akin to the previous model. Insiders who attended a press discussion following the event revealed that the vehicle is set to utilize the eCMP platform, the same one that underpins the Citroën e-C3.
The electronic version of the C3 model stands as one of the most affordable electric vehicles on the European market, and Tavares highlighted it as a reference point for the Jeep with a price tag of $25,000 during his initial public discussion about it.
During the event, when asked, Tavares mentioned that to maintain the desired sale price, the electric version of the Renegade will incorporate LFP battery cells, as reported by Autoblog.
Plan for Jeep's product lineup in North America as revealed during Stellantis' 2024 Investor Day
The Renegade is set to join a lineup of upcoming electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles from Jeep. The brand has unveiled the upcoming all-electric Wagoneer S SUV, which is expected to begin shipping this year. Additionally, a plug-in hybrid version of the Gladiator is slated for release next year, and Jeep has also verified that extended-range versions of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer 4xe plug-in hybrids are on the horizon for next year, featuring a propulsion system akin to that found in the Ramcharger pickup.
Jeep is targeting to add six fully electric vehicles to their range by 2027, with models such as the Wagoneer S, Renegade, an unspecified midsize SUV, and the Recon, which takes its design cues from the Wrangler for off-road adventures. The Recon is set to make its debut in its final production version sometime later this year, though the specific release date for sales remains uncertain.
