Jack Miller Rules Out Test Rider Role as He Hunts for New MotoGP Team in 2025
Jack Miller has openly expressed his position on the possibility of becoming a MotoGP test rider. Meanwhile, the KTM rider is actively seeking a new team for the 2025 season.
Jack Miller has ruled out the possibility of taking on the role of a MotoGP test rider next year.
Miller continues his search for a spot in the 2025 MotoGP rider roster, with his choices becoming increasingly limited.
The KTM factory racer is aware that his current manufacturer will be replacing him, but he is determined to continue racing full-time.
Miller told Motorsport that he doesn’t see himself as a test rider, so he can't even consider that possibility right now.
"I love it a lot; I love competing in races. I'm not a fan of the testing aspect, but I do it because I appreciate the effort that goes into achieving a goal."
"However, simply riding a motorcycle in circles doesn't thrill me."
"My main goal is to compete against 22 other bikes. The future is uncertain, but racing is all I want to do."
In the previous year, KTM moved Pol Espargaro from his regular racing position to a test rider role. Dani Pedrosa also occupies a similar position with the team.
Miller has expressed dissatisfaction with KTM's management of his departure, claiming he was initially advised not to engage with competing brands as his future with the company was assured.
However, Miller mentions that he got a phone call informing him that there wouldn't be a spot for him next season, three hours before the official announcement.
KTM has announced Pedro Acosta will join Brad Binder on the team next year.
The Tech3 KTM team has brought Maverick Vinales and Enea Bastianini on board, even though Miller was open to joining their lineup.
At present, Miller is searching for a different team.
Open positions are available at Gresini Ducati, Trackhouse Aprilia, and the newly established Pramac Yamaha project.
However, the competition is intense as many riders are currently unemployed, and several Moto2 prospects are aiming for advancement.
