Indian MotoGP on Hold for 2025, Set for Grand Return in 2026
Indian MotoGP Postponed Until 2025 – Set for a Return
FIM, IRTA, and Dorna Sports provide updates on the future of Indian MotoGP
Organizers have confirmed that the Indian MotoGP event is canceled for next year.
The FIM, IRTA, and Dorna Sports have announced that it will be a reserve event in 2025 but will be part of the 2026 MotoGP calendar.
A statement verified: "Due to operational issues, the event has been postponed from its original early 2025 date."
Due to the lack of open dates at the season's end, MotoGP is scheduled to come back to India in the early part of 2026.
"Efforts are underway by both MotoGP and InvestUP to organize a top-tier MotoGP event at the Buddh International Circuit, aiming to establish India as a premier location for international sports events."
"Our joint effort with InvestUP to reintroduce MotoGP to India is setting excellent groundwork for the future. MotoGP eagerly anticipates the opportunity to compete in front of our amazing Indian supporters as soon as we can."
Marco Bezzecchi from the VR46 team claimed victory in the inaugural Indian MotoGP last year.
The event was initially scheduled for this season but got cancelled. Instead, a second round at Misano was held. Last weekend, the Emilia Romagna MotoGP occurred, substituting the originally planned Indian MotoGP.
The complete schedule for the 2025 MotoGP has not been finalized yet, but it has been revealed that India will be listed only as a backup location.
