**”Horner Shields Ricciardo Amidst Red Bull Power Struggle: Marko’s Influence Wanes, Lawson Waits in the Wings”**
Daniel Ricciardo Keeps Red Bull Seat Due to Christian Horner’s Support Amid Helmut Marko’s Reduced Influence
Internal Tensions at Red Bull Allegedly Help Daniel Ricciardo Retain Position
According to reports, Christian Horner is said to be shielding Daniel Ricciardo despite his underwhelming performance this season.
Last year, midway through the season, Ricciardo received support from the Red Bull team principal. His outstanding performance during a test earned him a full-time spot on the F1 grid with AlphaTauri, where he took over from Nyck de Vries.
This year, Ricciardo emerged as a top contender to take over for Sergio Perez when his Red Bull contract concludes.
However, his performance with Red Bull this season has been underwhelming, and he is currently in 14th place in the Formula 1 rankings, trailing his teammate Yuki Tsunoda by four positions.
According to the BBC, Tsunoda's recent performance, marked by earning points in five out of the last six races, is not influencing opinions at Red Bull.
Thus, while Tsunoda is unlikely to be in the running to join Max Verstappen in place of Perez for the 2025 season, Ricciardo, despite not meeting expectations, continues to have backing from an important ally.
According to a BBC report, Ricciardo currently remains secure in his position at RB and will not be replaced by Liam Lawson at this time.
Nevertheless, Ricciardo plays a role in the internal issues at Red Bull that became evident following an inquiry that exonerated Horner from allegations made by a coworker.
Helmut Marko, a seasoned advisor with the leading team in Formula 1, "is likely inclined to advance Lawson's career, potentially at the cost of Ricciardo."
However, Marko's authority and sway have diminished as a result of the scandal surrounding Horner.
Lawson might potentially secure a full-time position at RB next season, but he would be teaming up with Ricciardo rather than replacing the well-liked Australian.
Tsunoda might consider other opportunities since a promotion from RB to Red Bull seems unlikely for him.
