Honor Dethrones Samsung to Reign as Top Foldable Smartphone Brand in Western Europe: A Counterpoint Research Insight
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leader in the foldable smartphone market in Western Europe. This is the first time the offshoot of Huawei has achieved this status in Western Europe, which is the second biggest market for foldable phones after China.
Honor, a smartphone company from China, has overtaken Samsung Electronics to become the leading producer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per the data provided by the industry consulting firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, emerged as the leader for the first time in the second quarter. Western Europe, being the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, is a hotly contested arena for competitors such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus and Google, as indicated by a recent report from Counterpoint.
Honor, the company that introduced its widely-liked book-shaped Magic V2 beyond China's borders last September, witnessed a 455 per cent surge in its worldwide foldable deliveries during the second quarter. This represents the most significant annual increase among all brands, as indicated by the report.
Worldwide, Huawei, Honor's local competitor, retained its position as the top brand for foldable mobile devices for two successive quarters, primarily due to its impressive performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
