Honor Dethrones Samsung: Leads Foldable Smartphone Market in Western Europe
Honor surpasses Samsung to become the leading brand in Western Europe's foldable smartphone market. For the first time, the offshoot from Huawei has seized this title in Western Europe, which is the second-biggest market for foldable phones following China.
Honor, a smartphone company from China, has outperformed Samsung Electronics, taking the top spot as the leading manufacturer of foldable phones in Western Europe, as per the statistics provided by the industry consulting firm, Counterpoint Research.
Honor, a subsidiary of Huawei Technologies, has emerged as the leader for the first time in Q2. According to a recent report from Counterpoint, Western Europe, the second biggest market for foldable phones after China, presents a tough competitive landscape for companies such as Motorola, Oppo, OnePlus, and Google.
Honor, known for debuting their widely-liked book-style Magic V2 internationally last September, experienced a remarkable 455% increase in global foldable shipments during the second quarter. This was the highest annual growth observed across all brands, according to the report.
Worldwide, Honor's local competitor Huawei has maintained its position as the leading brand in the foldable-phone sector for two quarters in a row, thanks to its robust performance in the Chinese market, as per a separate report by Counterpoint.
