High-Octane Cinema: Lewis Hamilton and Brad Pitt’s F1 Movie Races Towards 2025 Release

A Formula 1 film produced by Lewis Hamilton and featuring Brad Pitt is set for a global release in June 2025.

The release date for Apple's F1 movie, featuring Brad Pitt and co-produced by Lewis Hamilton, is set for June 25, 2025.

In a partnership between Apple Original Films and F1, an upcoming movie directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer will be released globally in theaters on June 25, 2025. The film will debut in North America on June 27, 2025.

Pitt is set to play an ex-driver making a comeback to Formula 1, with Damson Idris portraying his novice teammate in the imaginary team APXGP. The seven-time world champion Hamilton has contributed as a producer and has also played a role in crafting the movie's screenplay.

Production will resume during the 2024 F1 races following disruptions caused by the Hollywood actors' strike last year.

According to a press release from Formula 1, the film is a significant achievement for both the sport and the film industry. It was shot in real-time at various Grand Prix events worldwide and featured the entire Formula 1 community, including all 10 teams, the drivers, the FIA, and race organizers.

The latest movie is staged within the thrilling and visually stunning realm of Formula 1 racing. It aims to draw viewers into the excitement of this widely-followed yearly sports event, highlighting the drivers' expertise and bravery, and emphasizing the formidable nature of competing in Formula 1.

The movie will feature Brad Pitt playing an ex-driver making a comeback to Formula 1, with Damson Idris portraying his novice teammate at APXGP, a made-up team competing against real drivers and teams in the sport.

Filming for the movie, which started in 2023, is set to proceed at this year's British Grand Prix and various other race events, wrapping up at the final race of the season, the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, in December.

Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem is set to portray the owner of the APXGP team, with Kerry Condon and Tobias Menzies also joining the ensemble.

During a recent interview on the YouTube show Hot Ones, Hamilton discussed the project, stating: "I believe it's extremely challenging to accurately depict racing in films."

Every year, there's a requirement to film while trailing a truck with a camera mounted on its rear, making it challenging to accurately capture the speed.

"It's impossible for a truck to keep up with filming at 200 miles per hour, so usually, they shoot at a slower speed and then increase the speed in post-production. However, this footage is captured in real time and at actual speed."
