**”Hamilton’s New Chapter: Early Indicators for Ferrari Engineer Synergy Amidst Bono’s Mercedes Promotion”**
Lewis Hamilton will 'quickly realize' if the collaboration with Ferrari's new engineer will be successful
Lewis Hamilton comments on Peter Bonnington not accompanying him to Ferrari next season.
Lewis Hamilton mentioned that he will be able to tell quite soon if his partnership with his new Formula 1 race engineer at Ferrari will be successful.
The seven-time world champion is set to have a different race engineer for the first time in 13 years as he makes his highly anticipated move to Ferrari next season. His long-serving race engineer, Peter Bonnington, will not be accompanying him.
‘Bono’ has ascended to the position of head of race engineering at Mercedes, signifying that the renowned collaboration will come to an end when Hamilton departs from the team at the close of 2024.
The identity of Hamilton's engineer at Ferrari has not been officially announced. However, it is expected that Riccardo Adami, who is presently collaborating with Carlos Sainz, will take on the role, allowing the 39-year-old British driver to join the team.
"The team frequently makes decisions on your behalf," Hamilton mentioned to the press, including Crash.net, before the Dutch Grand Prix at Zandvoort this weekend. "Throughout my career, I've had two primary engineers. Actually, that's not accurate; I've worked with Philip Prew, Andy Lacombe, and another individual."
"When I became a member of this team, Bono was already serving as the lead engineer. It's essential to have someone you can get along with and someone with whom you can effortlessly establish a trusting relationship."
"The upcoming task will involve a period of exploration. I'll quickly be able to determine its viability. It all comes down to effective communication."
When questioned about potential discussions regarding his move to Ferrari before January, Hamilton responded, "No. It's challenging. That makes it very hard. I believe it's likely the same for anyone starting in a new workplace."
"It won't happen until you leave. The beginning of next year will be extremely busy."
Hamilton confessed that he would have "loved to keep working with Bono," but emphasized that he is pleased to see his trusted companion get a promotion.
Hamilton expressed his desire to keep working with Bono, highlighting their strong bond by comparing it to a brotherly relationship, as demonstrated at Silverstone. However, he emphasized that he is genuinely delighted for Bono.
"For me, it's all about individuals making the best choices for themselves. You need to do what's right for you. Moving away must be challenging, and it surely affects both him and his partner, so they need to make the decision that is best for them."
"I was aware that it was improbable for him to join me, given how it would significantly alter his life. However, I am very pleased that the team has recognized this and made adjustments to the pathway within the team, allowing him to develop further."
"He'll now have the opportunity to showcase even more of his amazing work. Regardless, we'll always remain family. We've discussed it and our goal is to end things on a positive note."
Hamilton will encounter some well-known individuals at Ferrari, including Jock Clear, who worked on his engineering team during 2013 and 2014, and team principal Fred Vasseur, who led the ART Grand Prix team when Hamilton clinched the GP2 championship in 2006.
