Ferrari’s Sainz Sets Blistering Pace in Hot Hungarian GP Practice, Edges Out Verstappen and Leclerc

Carlos Sainz, driving for Ferrari, clocks the fastest time in the opening practice of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
Carlos Sainz topped the charts in the first practice session of the F1 Hungarian Grand Prix, followed by Max Verstappen and his Ferrari teammate Charles Leclerc, according to a report by Lewis Larkam in Budapest.
In the soft tyre sessions, Sainz clocked a lap time that was 0.276 seconds quicker than the current world champion Verstappen, and 0.298 seconds ahead of Leclerc, securing a 1-3 finish for Ferrari.
Red Bull has introduced a significant set of enhancements to their RB20 vehicle for the upcoming race at the Hungaroring. Meanwhile, Ferrari has rolled out a new floor design in an effort to address their recent issues with bouncing.
George Russell posted the quickest time among Mercedes drivers, finishing fourth and about four-tenths of a second behind Sainz's leading time. Meanwhile, Zhou Guanyu impressed by securing fifth place in his enhanced Sauber.
Lando Norris secured sixth place, followed by his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri. Yuki Tsunoda from Red Bull and Lance Stroll, who was driving a significantly improved Aston Martin, also finished in the top positions.
Lewis Hamilton, who recently secured his first victory in 945 days at the British Grand Prix, finished in 10th place.
The seven-time world champion was trailing by more than half a second behind the time recorded by Sainz.
Facing significant pressure, Sergio Perez finished in 11th place, clocking a time that was over seven-tenths slower.
The initial practice session occurred under scorching conditions, with the track temperature soaring to 60 degrees.
