**”Ferrari’s Fred Vasseur Downplays Alonso’s Bold Predictions Ahead of Key F1 Races”**
"Ferrari Leader Dismisses Alonso's Statement as Pressure Tactic"
Fred Vasseur has addressed Fernando Alonso's confident forecast regarding Ferrari's future in Formula 1.
Ferrari chief Fred Vasseur has addressed Fernando Alonso's comments regarding the team's chances in the forthcoming F1 races.
Following the Dutch Grand Prix, the Aston Martin driver confidently forecasted that Ferrari would dominate both the Italian Grand Prix, their home event, and the forthcoming Singapore Grand Prix.
Since the season began, Ferrari has fallen behind Red Bull and now seems to be trailing McLaren and Mercedes in the rankings.
The Italian team secured a surprising podium finish at Zandvoort after bouncing back from a poor qualifying session. Charles Leclerc finished sixth, a full second behind the leader, while Carlos Sainz was eliminated in Q2.
Alonso stated that he believes Ferrari will be the top contenders in two of the upcoming three races.
He mentioned that McLaren, Red Bull, and Ferrari consistently have a shot at the podium each weekend, while Mercedes' performance is somewhat inconsistent.
"Excluding Baku, Ferrari is expected to be the top contender in the next two races. Based on last year's performances in Monza and Singapore, and Leclerc's victory in Monaco this year, Ferrari is likely to be the team to beat in Singapore."
When questioned about Alonso's remarks, Ferrari team principal Vasseur swiftly dismissed any notions that his team is the frontrunner.
"If he's attempting to apply pressure, he needs to understand that I don't follow Fernando Alonso's Twitter," Vasseur stated.
"I don’t use Twitter, but I don’t need anyone to inform me whether we are considered the favorites or not."
“Our strategy will remain consistent regardless of the situation. I am optimistic that our condition will improve in the next two or three events.”
“Last year, we performed significantly better on these tracks.”
"Once more, it comes down to specifics. Our improved condition in handling short corners is advantageous for us. A gain of one or two tenths can significantly alter the outcome."
"We are aware that everyone is making progress. We also recognize that today there was still a significant gap between us and Lando, indicating that we have considerable work ahead of us."
"I will never approach Monza, Baku, or any other location thinking it will be straightforward."
