Ferrari Gears Up for Hamilton Era with Major F1 Technical Team Overhaul
Ferrari reveals major changes to F1 technical crew before Lewis Hamilton joins in 2025
Ferrari has unveiled a series of updates to their Formula 1 technical crew in anticipation of Lewis Hamilton joining the team in 2025. This includes naming former Mercedes head Loic Serra as their new technical director for the chassis division.
In May, the Italian squad announced that Serra would team up with Jerome d'Ambrosio.
Initially, it was disclosed that Serra would take up the role of head of chassis performance engineering, with direct reporting to Enrico Cardile.
Nonetheless, Cardile has departed from the team to join Aston Martin, opening up an opportunity for Serra to step in as their technical director for chassis.
Ferrari is undergoing a major technical overhaul in anticipation of Hamilton joining the team in 2025.
After a 12-year period with Mercedes, Hamilton is set to join Ferrari, partnering with Charles Leclerc.
On Thursday morning, Ferrari issued a statement saying: “Scuderia Ferrari HP has appointed Loic Serra as the new Technical Director of the Chassis department.
In line with earlier communications, the engineer from France, who was born in 1972, is set to become a part of the team starting from October 1. In his new capacity, Loic will be directly under the supervision of Team Principal, Fred Vasseur.
Serra is set to oversee the following divisions: Chassis Project Engineering, led by Fabio Montecchi; Vehicle Performance, under the direction of Marco Adurno; Aerodynamics, managed by Diego Tondi; Track Engineering, overseen by Matteo Togninalli; and Chassis Operations, supervised by Diego Ioverno, who will also maintain his position as Sporting Director.
Enrico Gualtieri retains his position as Technical Director Power Unit, with direct reporting responsibilities to Fred Vasseur.
There were strong rumors connecting Ferrari with Adrian Newey after Red Bull revealed in Miami that he would be departing the team in the early part of 2025.
The individual, aged 65, is anticipated to become a part of Aston Martin.
